Place of birth: London UK (Jersey residence 46 years).

Family Status: Married to Brian Corby a Jerseyman whose Grandmother on his mother’s sides maiden name was De Gruchy for 37 years, two children Clarissa (36) and April (21) (Lost two children Benjamin who would have been (35 this year) and Natasha who would have been (31 this year).

Occupation: Housewife-writer.

My History and family background: I am a tax exiles daughter and come from a business background; I have been a director on the board of Blue chip UK company and a number of other companies. I ran our jointly owned 24 Hr Recovery service for over 25 years with my husband Brian and say “If you can work with your other half for that length of time and not end up divorced I feel this proves you can work constructively with anyone”. I did everything including the kitchen sink for our business, from driving the trucks, and yes, I did do Police accident crash work and the like, for the business which represented the A A, Green flag, The Police, government departments such as housing etc.

Doing the accounts including the income Tax returns etc; Responsible for debt collecting, being the first woman in Jersey (who was not a solicitor) to take personal applications through the petty debts court for the business.

Note: I was not one of those unpleasant debt collectors, I did daft things, taking a home grown plant in payment for a tow in from an OAP, collecting small amounts weekly from those who where in financial difficulties without interest.

I have done untold jobs to long to list here over the years from Waitressing in the 1960’s to Care Assistant in the 1970’s then again in the 1990’s, worked in retail outlets periodically and even did a temping job at Social Security in the accounts department in the 90’s.

My Interests and hobbies: I love, children, animals especially horses as I am an X grade A show-jumper, when I had horse/ponies I always allowed the suitable ones to be used for the disabled, and also took children for equestrian studies on the activity weeks for Le Quennavais School in the 1970’s.

I strongly believe in encouraging future generations (in fact everyone possible) to participate in sport, it is good for the mind/ body, when we had the Recovery Service I sponsored many classes at various local horse shows and presented the prizes.

In the late 1970’s and through most of the 1980’s I represented Horse Watch as a horsy investigator. During this period of time did investigate the biggest horse fraud that was committed and prosecuted for in the Royal Court (Civil case) in the island.

I love to swim, walk our dog, listen to music (Classical, rock, in fact all types of music) read, write on more subjects than one could shake a stick at, researching, gaining knowledge is something I’ve always done and its something we can all do. I say ’Do as you would be done by’ and like to give for example I give 50% out of anything I make from my fairy stories to ‘Oakwell’ The children’s Hospice .

I am obviously interested in politics and follow our local ones as closely as possible, one cannot always know what is going on in the island under our noses without checking out the internet citizen media reports, because we only seem to get one side of many stories from our accredited media, there are many good reporters out there and this reflects badly on them.
